Beginning later this year, Premium subscribers in select markets will be able to upgrade their sound quality to Spotify HiFi and listen to their favorite songs the way artists intended. We agree, and that’s why today at Stream On we announced Spotify HiFi. Tidal was the first - and for a while, only - major streaming service to offer lossless audio, which it describes as a "fully detailed, richer sound." Tidal charges $19.99 a month for lossless sound quality, or $16.99 a month if users pay for six months at a time. Artists and fans have told us that sound quality is important to them. That would be $15 to $20 a month total for lossless audio Spotify subscribers. The pricing test offered users an upgrade to high-quality audio for between $5 and $10 more per month than the usual $10-a-month Spotify Premium. A Spotify spokesperson told the publication that “We are always testing new products and offers but have no news to share at this time." Spotify gave the same statement to Mashable.
